Oh em gee, it's Election Day!

Holy crap! I thought this day would never get here.

I'm not sure if it's obvious, but I voted for Obama.



(Man, I look tired/chubby/pimply. Please ignore my face, and focus on my shirt!)

And I don't know about you, but I'm ready for some change.



But obviously John McCain has a lot to offer as well.



In addition to this monumental election, I get to leave work early for my three-month Lasik follow-up appointment, which means that afterward I get to come home and 1) take a nap and 2) obsess over the election.

I'd like to say that having eye surgery was some of the best money I've ever spent, mainly because I don't have to walk around looking like this guy:



And having good vision is a big plus, too.

Happy Election Day, everyone! And don't forget: "Live your values. Love your country. Vote."

Here are some wonderful reasons to vote YES on Prop 8!

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or longer lifespans.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as seperate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

I haven't written in a couple of days, and I can really tell the difference. Truthfully, I have much to say but not much that I want to say. So instead, here are some interesting things I've discovered on the interwebz lately.

And my sister-in-law sent me an awesome set of pictures from an anti-Palin rally held in Alaska. I've tried to watch several videos of Palin lately and am always overwhelmed by what an idiot she is. She may be a woman, but she sure as hell doesn't speak for me. As a matter of fact, I think I should be the VP nominee instead of her. I'm definitely more intelligent, and I probably have more experience.

Anyway, if you don't want me to be the VP nominee, by all means please vote for WeeMo.





Gawd help our country if McCain gets elected.

The gang go on many adventures, including a long trip to Hell, in this dark comedy of a story.



6) Love, love, LOVE this video. It's the funniest thing I've seen in awhile.

8) Lastly, I got my computer back! I've spent the last couple of days trying to get it the way it was before I took it in to be fixed (minus the spyware, of course). I'm still trying to import all my email, as well as figuring out how to convert my external hard drive to a more stable format. It's a work in progress, that's for sure. But hopefully I will have some new photos to share soon and will be able to be a better blog commenter.

Just when I thought today couldn't get any stranger...

My friend Jessica and I were driving through the Rubio's parking lot on our way back to work after having lunch and saw this middle-aged guy standing by his car talking on his cell phone.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, black dress shoes, black socks, and tight white boxer briefs. And that's it. I saw everything. I didn't just throw up in my mouth a little; I threw up in my mouth a lot.

What is it about today? What is it about the Rubio's parking lot?

Jesus Freak

I've had the same cell phone number for close to seven years now, and I always get phone calls for someone named Jesus (Hay-soos, not Geezus). I usually tell them they have the wrong number because I'm nice and neighborly like that.

Today this guy called and asked for Geezus. I cracked up immediately.

Me: "This is Geezus."
Him: "Hi Geezus, this is Eric from Bank of America. I was calling to see if you were interested in our payment protection plan..."
Me: "I'm sorry, this isn't really Geezus. It was a joke. I thought you were joking when you asked for Geezus. You know, because of Jesus Christ?"
Him: "Oh."

*click*

Apparently Eric isn't familiar with the Spanish dialect. He also doesn't seem to appreciate interactions with heathens.

I am so glad it's Friday. Not only is the weekend upon me, but I get to pick which blogs to post about.

1) Take a look at Business Guys on Business Trips. Anyone who's worked in an office will be able to relate to this. I love this one in particular:

I've enjoyed going these regular weekly posts on this blog. It's fun sharing what I've been reading, and I especially love it when people tell me about other cool blogs. I think I will keep this feature around for awhile. I may be getting rid of the i heart youtube feature and replacing it with something else. I haven't decided what to replace it with, though. That's where you come in! What do you find interesting enough to tune in every week for? (Good gawd, that's a horrible sentence, but the alternative sounds just as bad.)

I was considering doing a day in the life post (accompanied by pictures, of course), kind of like they do on flickr, but I honestly don't know if the mundane details of my life are very interesting. Actually, I'm pretty sure they're not, but I suppose it's all in how I present myself, right?

Or I could do a weekly photo collage, or just a weekly post full of photos. Or I can keep the youtube feature. Or I can leave it and do nothing at all. The possibilities are endless!

Let me know what you think, though. You guys are the ones that read this thing.

Tuesday Discoveries

-I saw this awesome license plate on my lunch break.



-I finally figured out what to do about my name change issue. I found out today that the state will definitely not amend our marriage license to reflect Roy's name change, which means that in order to change my name, I will have to go through the courts. This will cost us around $400, but to be perfectly honest, I am happy to pay it if that's what it takes. You'd think I'd be upset about this, but no, I'm just relieved to finally have a definitive answer and to know what to do. I guess it's a good thing that I put off requesting the amendment, being as it wouldn't have done us any good anyway.

I would also like to say something that I will probably never say again, so take note: I am actually grateful that I work in a legal office, because if it wasn't for some of my co-workers doing some digging on this issue, I never would have known for sure what to do. Also, based on this experience, I would also like to say that County employees are generally useless. I don't blame them entirely; it's the bureaucracy that causes all the miscommunication and ignorance.

And lastly, those of you who are getting married and wanting to both change your names, please have your future husband change his name before you pick up your marriage license. Honestly, it would have saved us so much time, money, and sanity had we done it this way. That was our original plan, but someone *coughRoycough* decided to wait until a month before our wedding to file for his name change (and to be fair to my long-suffering husband, the County employee he spoke to did say that everything would be fine if his name change went through after our wedding). Try to give it at least a couple of months for the whole process to be completed, because it takes awhile.

-I often check out the organized collection photo pool, and today this photo in particular made me happy.



-I have finally figured out how to control the temperature in my office. Last week, I was freezing, so I covered up my A/C vent (which is right over my chair) with a piece of cardboard. Yesterday afternoon, though, the heat coming in through my window was sweltering. So today I cut a small rectangle in the cardboard, and now I have controlled A/C. Yay. It's the little things, right?

1) Design for Mankind. I am not a design person, but I love design blogs, mainly because quite a few of them just seem to feature cool stuff. Design for Mankind sets itself apart by offering realistic advice for those creative types out there who want to escape the 9-5 world and focus on their dreams. Also, this blog offers a free monthly e-zine that is just filled with inspiration. It's definitely worth checking out.



2) Although I've been a faithful follower of i can has cheezburger for quite some time now, it was just this week that I realized there is an actual FAIL blog out there. Oh my, each day this blog makes me laugh so hard that I cry.

Yay, it's Friday! I've been meaning to write; I have so much to say. But for now, here's the two blogs of the week that I want to share.

1) Matt, Liz, and Madeline chronicles the lives of a family unexpectedly ripped apart when Liz (the mother) died of a pulmonary embolism 27 hours after giving birth to her daughter Madeline. Written by Matt (Liz's husband and Madeline's father), this blog is one of the most powerful I have come across in quite some time.



2) What happens when you take Garfield out of the picture? You get Garfield minus Garfield...and a very disturbed Jon Arbuckle.
