All it takes is one moment.

Did you know that your life can change in just one moment? One little piece of time can render you speechless, breathless, overjoyed, saddened, defeated, and everything else in between.

Tonight I was washing the dishes. There is a mirror above the sink, and I happened to catch a glimpse of myself in that mirror. In particular, I noticed the small mole near my collarbone - it's a newish mole, formed within the last year. The last few months I have been asking Roy if he's noticed if it's gotten bigger. Just today I called the dermatologist and made an appointment to have it looked at. I have hated it ever since it made its appearance, as I am not a big fan of moles.

And then tonight I noticed a small speck of black in it. And I immediately felt like I couldn't breathe, because that black is not a good sign.

It looks like I will be calling my dermatologist again tomorrow to see if they can get me in sooner.

I am scared. I keep telling myself that it's probably nothing. But what would I do if it really was something?

I'm not sure. But I feel changed, somehow.

Don't worry. I am positive you are OK. It's good you caught it right as you noticed a change. You'll be just fine!

It's ok! If it is something, I'm sure you've caught it in time. Just be sure to ask the Derm to check everywhere as well as that spot.

Thankfully you are making every attempt to see the Dr. Even though the situation is very scary at least you have Roy (plus friends & family) to stand by your side. :)

Not to give you false hope, but I've had a mole on my shoulder(albeit since I was born) that I've had looked at many times over the years with no issues. And it has black flecks in it.

I'm sending you lots o' positive thoughts!

You're doing the right thing-- be as calm as you can manage, and take good care of yourself. You're lucky you have kept track of it so well.

I am glad that you are going to get it checked out. I am sure you will be fine, but I can see how that might be scary!

I had the same thing happen last summer, and it turned out to be fine. They ended up removing 5 moles (one at a time, lucky lucky me), all of which looked iffy, but they were all cleared. Get it checked, but don't panic!

i'm glad this all worked out okay. i have a ton of moles. i worked for a dermatologist for several years in college/grad school and he removed one that looked like a melanoma. come to find out it was benign, but he basically told me i have some sort of condition where my moles look cancerous, but they're not. lovely :/

i'm glad you're getting it all taken care of.
